5 months

Baby girl,
You are growing up too quickly. You are just soaking up everything around you and growing even more every day. You are very observant of your surroundings and if you see something you want, you try your hardest to get there. You haven't started crawling or scooting around yet, but you do get up on your hands and knees and rock back and forth. Grandma Julie sent me a picture the other day of you up on your hands and knees, and you were staring down Ellie's puppies and I'm sure trying to figure out how to get to them. The caption was "hate to tell you, but you may have a crawler by the time she is 6 months old". I was so proud of you and your new found accomplishment, but also a little sad, time is going so quickly and you are growing and changing so much every day. Before I know it, you will be crawling and into everything. So, I just soak up the snuggles and play time and savor each day and moment with you.

You are such a happy little girl, always giggling and smiling. You adore your family. Whenever you see me, dad, your grandmas & grandpas, aunties and cousins, you just light up with the biggest smile and start waving your arms or kicking your feet. I can tell you will be a little social butterfly just like your dad. You absolutely adore daddy, when he plays guitar or sings to you, you are just mesmerized. You love watching and listening to him sing and play to you. I just love watching your relationship with your daddy grow. I think you two will have such a sweet bond as you grow up.

We haven't given you any foods yet, but you are definitely starting to get interested in them. If you are sitting on our lap while we are eating, you try to grab things off our plates and you are constantly watching us as we eat. Learning by observing us. We plan to start giving you foods after your 6 month check up, if the doctor says it is okay.

You are always in motion. You love swinging and swiming. When we hold you, your arms and feet are always on the move. I can tell you want to be crawling already, soon enough baby girl. For now, time slow down! I just want to soak up each day with you and savor every moment because time is going way too fast. I'm so proud of all you are learning and how you are growing and doing so much already. I want to truly stay in the present with you and enjoy each day and all your new discoveries as they come; not looking too far forward or into the past. Just enjoying each day with you. We love you to the moon and back and then some! We pray blessings over you sweet baby girl. I'm so proud of you and love you so much.

All my love,
Momma

Summer Goals

I've fallen a bit behind on my goal-setting, and since Summer tends to have a more relaxed vibe where the days are long, but the months short, I'd like to set summer goals rather than monthly.

First a quick recap from April.

April Goals:

  • Keep working on little one's baby book - I've fallen behind, I'd love to catch up on this asap before I forget the details and how quickly she is growing!
  • Celebrate my birthday - We had a great time going out to dinner and enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend.
  • Read The Circle Maker - This has fallen off of my reading list and been replaced by other books for the time being.
  • Celebrate Easter with our both of our families - A great time at my grandparents and also at Todd's parents.
  • Continue cleaning out our basement in preparation for our yard sale - check! Still lots to go through but we are making progress.
  • Go walking 2-3 times a week - Not happening, the weather just needs to cooperate, too much rain!
  • Have at least two "Sunday Fun-Days"
  • Read my daily devotional
  • Have a fun date night with Todd to see The Lion King - This was so much fun! A great date night out.
  • Clean out our closets / dressers - still needs done.

Summer Goals (May - August):

  • Catch up on little one's baby book
  • Celebrate my first Mother's Day
  • Celebrate Todd's first Father's day
  • Go walking 2-3 times a week - also get new running shoes and hopefully start training for that 5k on my 30 before 30 list
  • Finish cleaning out the basement
  • Have a yard sale
  • Finalize plans to start finishing our basement
  • Go to the lake with Todd's family
  • Celebrate the 4th of July with friends
  • Spend many days at the pool and just take it easy

So there you have it. What are your summer goals / plans?
